Some interesting Amazon news...

So apparently HG (Hunger Games) is topping HP (Harry Potter) in sales...I do not understand!
HP is easily the better series--writing, characters, world-- it's all better.

Am I right? or am I right?

  1. Yeah, Harry Potter is definitely better overall, but it's been out a lot longer, so it's inevitable that The Hunger Games will have better sales now. I'm sure HP has sold more overall...or at least I hope so!

    1. I will need to recheck, but I think hg is outselling hp overall...I guess its surprising because I don't think hg is that amazing, whereas I loved hp. But then again it could be a generational thing.

  2. HP isn't my favorite kid's series, but it's very good, and you're totally right.

    1. Oh it's definitely one of my favorites...along with the Abhorsen trilogy. I'm glad we agree on this HG v. HP sales nonsense.

  3. Hunger Games had the luck to have been printed and sold at a time when books are far more popular than they were at the time of Harry Potter's publication. The resurgence in YA readers is astounding.

    1. This is very true. I guess I should be glad more people are reading...even if it is a mediocre series such as HG. Astounding indeed.

  4. The only reason why HP got bypassed is that it came before in the YA timeline. The audience was already built, sold to the idea of teenage heroes and most important, growing up. The fact that it was better or worse, has unfortunately no incidence on the numbers. It's all marketing and strategy.
